The Founding Members of Women of the South had a
vision to provide higher educational opportunities
for women who do not have resources to attend a
college or university. That vision became a reality
in 1995 when Women of the South (WOS) was founded.
The two scholarship programs available include: an
Associate Degree scholarship to Oklahoma City
Community College for women who are the sole or
primary providers of their household, and a
scholarship for young women graduating from a
Southside Oklahoma City high school.
Primary Provider Scholarships:
WOS
Primary Provider scholarships are available to those
women who are the sole or primary providers of their
household. Recipients of this scholarship will
receive funding from Women of the South to obtain an
associate degree from Oklahoma City Community
College. The scholarship includes tuition, fees, and
books paid directly to the college. A recipient must
be a primary provider who possesses a high school
diploma or equivalent, resides in south Oklahoma
City metropolitan area and falls within the
financial income requirements.
Applications accepted at anytime. Applicant
Interviews to be conducted in June of each year.
WOS has awarded numerous
primary provider scholarships since its
inception.
